Mattie walked around and saw plenty of male choices, but one stood out. He was casually standing at the bar, drinking a Whiskey, looking around for someone perhaps. Their eyes met. She was instantly mesmerized. Walking over to the stranger, their eyes never leaving one another, she stood in front of him and asked the stranger what he wanted.

With a long smile on his face, he blustered out, “I think you know what I want.”

Sitting on a fabric laced seat in front of a small table, looking into a broken mirror, as she thought to herself as broken. In anger she threw her shoe at the mirror last night, a mirror that sometimes seems to look into her soul with longing. But now, a jagged piece of mess, with shards of glass thrown everywhere. A tall, handsome stranger brushed by her as she sat on a wooden bench inside of a building. It was a warm day, with plenty of sunshine streaming through the windows. She smiled and looked to see if her family seated next to her noticed anything unusual. They were busy chatting with others. She only saw his lean back as he walked past her bench. He left a fragrant musky scent in his wake, and she lifted her face and deeply inhaled the pleasant smell.

Wiping her brow with the sleeve of her dress, she looked up from washing her husband’s shirt, taking a deep breath of the mountain air. It sure was warm today!
