No Secret About the Secret Garden!

I sit down and gaze my eyes. I see lots of green. Green leaves dangling down and around to provide a cocoon of shade. A vine strewn in different places. Grass that seems so fluffy, beckoning you to run through it, barefoot with lots of laughter pouring out of your mouth. Giddy as a child. Colorful flowers scattered around to bring a smile to your cheeks. I look up from the garden, pick up a menu that was placed gently in front of me and casually open it. My eyes scan the words quickly, looking for what I came for. Something I have not had in a long time. I look at up at my husband with eyes telling him I know what I want.

Eating breakfast away from the comfort of home is a different experience for me. After all I am very picky and have particular tastes and dietary needs. But, for one day I decided to chance it and seek a place that serves breakfast. It was Mother’s Day and my husband and I were out of town, enjoying our time in nature and other delights. I found a most enjoyable restaurant, the Secret Garden. It will not be much of a secret after I get done sharing about this scrumptious experience!

Upon entering your dining experience, you are greeted thoughtfully by the host, asking if you want to sit inside or out. The inside is small, but functional, well lit, with small tables, bustling waiting staff, catering to your every need. I wanted to sit outside as I love sitting outside when I eat as long as the weather is behaving. I was mesmerized when we left the indoors and saw so much green!. Large trees shaded the patio area, making it livable to eat outside even on a hot summer day. Flowering plants floated around with whimsical gardening deco adding a nice touch to your dining experience. Once we sat down, I perused my menu, looking for what my palette desired that day.

And what did I see? A scrumptious selection of gluten free pancakes! A reason to celebrate! My diet was hopeful for something I could eat, but not only that, fresh fruit was a part of this dish and I was super stoked. My husband had a breakfast burrito with all the seasonings his body craves. We did not wait long for our meal, I barely had time to absorb more of the garden area before plates were placed in front of us. Smearing butter and pouring a delicate amount of syrup on my pancakes, I gently cut a small piece, placed it in my mouth, and felt the taste enhance my picky palette. Oh my goodness! How tasty these pancakes are!

Do you think they give small portions? Nope! I had three huge pancakes, a small bowl of fruit consisting of strawberries and flavorful melons and a glass of fresh water to wash it down. I am not a coffee drinker! I finished my plate and rolled myself out of the restaurant, well not really rolled, but I was super stuffed! We took a nice walk around the shopping area the restaurant was in, Tlaquepaque, and took photos of the beautiful architecture. It is Spanish and a little old, which I like. Since the stores were closed, we took advantage of walking and delighting in setting before us.
